Book excerpt: THE PHONETIC GUIDE TO SPANISH My name is Matthew Lawry. I have been learning Spanish for a number of years. The idea behind my book was to learn Spanish the most direct way without coming up to stumbling blocks. This book is ideal for students of Spanish or anyone who has ever fancied learning Spanish, because you learn everything from ordering a drink, to hobbies, to a person's character. I have explained it in a phonetic way, so you can pronounce the words more easily. If you want a no-nonsense straight down the line, teach yourself Spanish book, then this is the one for you. The reason for me writing this book is because when I was at school, I thought why learn the alphabet and get on to the grammar before I learnt how to say basic sentences and got introduced to the language. I have put two sections in the book. The first section is the situational phase, for instance when going to a restaurant what do you need to learn e.g ask for a table in the corner or ask for the bill or anything else to do with ordering. The second section is a conceptual section. Within that section one of the chapters is a phrase book, where you learn more complicated phrases that you are more likely to come across in life. This book is based on people learning the spoken word of Spanish. I hope you enjoy this book.
